Epac (or cAMPGEF) is cAMP-binding proteins first identified on the basis of its ability to stimulate the exchange of GDP for GTP at the guanyl nucleotide binding sites of the Rap1 and Rap2 small molecular weight G proteins and activates the Ras superfamily small GTPases Rap1 and Rap2.
