PCPA methyl ester hydrochloride (4-Chloro-DL-phenylalanine methyl ester hydrochloride), a reversible tryptophan hydroxylase inhibitor, is a serotonin (5-HT) synthesis inhibitor. PCPA methyl ester hydrochloride crosses the blood brain barrier and reduces 5-HT central availability.
体内研究：
PCPA 甲酯盐酸盐 (250-500 mg/kg；口服给药；每天一次；持续 8 周) 处理可显著降低海马体和皮层的血清素水平。在 C57BL/6 中精英雄性小鼠，在口服或腹腔注射 PCPA methyl ester hydrochloride 处理小鼠的海马体中，5-HT 水平分别降低了 85% 和 55%，而在前额皮质中，5-HT 水平降低了 65% (口服) 和50% (ip)。Animal Model:C57BL/6 elite male mice (3 months old)
Dosage:500 mg/kg per day for the first 2 days and 250 mg/kg for the rest of the treatment
Administration:Oral administration; daily; for 8 weeks
Result:Serotonin levels were significantly decreased in both hippocampus and cortex.
