Formamide is an effective DNA denaturant that significantly reduces the stability of DNA in buffer solutions. Formamide can also be used as a decalcifying agent for rat cardiac cells. Additionally, formamide is widely used as a solvent or chemical raw material for ion compounds, resins, and plasticizers.

体内活性：
Formamide (80-160 mg/kg, 口服, 1 天 1 次，1 周 5 天，持续 2 周、3 个月或 2 年) 对雄性 B6C3F1 小鼠具有致癌活性。

体外活性：
Formamide (15 mol/L，15 分钟) 可诱导大鼠心肌细胞中 T 小管丢失。 Formamide (25 mL，10分钟) 诱导凋亡细胞 (Staurosporine (HY-15141) 处理的乳腺癌 MDA-468 细胞、白血病 MOLT-4 细胞及耐药亚系 MOLT-4/R ) 的 DNA 变性，但对非凋亡细胞 (活跃增殖的 MDA-468 和 MOLT-4 细胞) 的 DNA 没有影响。 Formamide (0.31-0.5 M，3 小时) 可抑制鸡胚胎神经上皮细胞的细胞间期核迁移并减少细胞中微管数量。
