Ambroxol hydrochloride is a glucocerebrosidase (GCase) chaperone and increases glucocerebrosidase activity. Ambroxol hydrochloride induces lung autophagy and has the potential for Parkinson disease and neuronopathic Gaucher disease research.

Ambroxol hydrochloride (NA-872 hydrochloride；在饮用水中连续 12 天浓度为 1、3、4、5 mM) 导致野生型小鼠大脑葡萄糖脑苷脂酶活性增加，转基因小鼠在小鼠葡萄糖脑苷脂酶 1 基因中表达杂合 L444P 突变，和过表达人 α-突触核蛋白的转基因小鼠。
